Required Learnings Overview
Trillium Health Partners is a learning organization that is committed to required learnings as an essential part of delivering high quality, patient-centred care in a safe and supportive environment.

• Our ability to ensure we continue to deliver this level of care relies in part on the continuous required learning of our staff

• The Learning Management System (LMS) supports the management and completion of required learnings for all employees* at THP. (*THP’s Required Learning Policy does not include physicians, volunteers or learners. Physician learning is completed through the Medical Administration credentialing process.)

• Compliance with mandatory learning is  both a legislative and Accreditation requirement

Responsibility of Employees
All employees are responsible for completing their required learning on an annual basis. In addition, staff must ensure they do the following:

• Complete the requirements of the required learning program including quizzes by the annual due date(s)

• Communicate any barriers preventing them from completing the required learning requirements with their Leader

Responsibility of Leaders
By law, leaders are responsible for ensuring all of their direct reports have completed and are up-to-date with their required learning. In addition, leaders are responsible for:


• Ensuring  staff are  provided with the opportunity to complete mandatory learning during their regularly scheduled shifts

• Following-up with any staff who fail to complete required learning on a regular basis

• Communicating any issues or challenges in meeting learning requirements to your respective director and/or to Learning and Organizational Development (as applicable)

o You can start your required learning courses as soon as they are available. If your course has an annual renewal requirement, it will automatically reset each year.

For Managers
o Easy-to-use compliance reporting tool called My Team that allows you to track your team’s learning compliance
o Ability to view individual learning records for staff members
o Team progress can be downloaded in CSV (Excel) format to share with your clinical educators, team leaders or supervisors for follow up
